The Durga & Friends project was created especially for Jazz by the Pool with the intention of combining different musical styles and create a unique event. A high-level group accompanies two of the most beautiful voices of the pop, soul and prog. music scene for an extraordinary evening.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Durga Mc Broom attended U.C.L.A. (Theatre Arts Major), where she began her artistic career as an actress and then in the music field next to Pink Floyd. Her musical career carried on in Londonwith the Blue Pearl Group, where she recorded her first success with the single “Naked in the Rain”.
Durga sings with Pink Floyd from 1987 and counts collaborations with David Gilmour in a solo-tour, with The End group and with Guy Pratt and Jon Carin. She has recorded several albums and singles, and has also participated in the recording of the last Pink Floyd album released in autumn 2014.
Chiara Luppi is a singer and actress of Italian-Armenian origins. She graduated in architecture at IUAV in Venice and in jazz singing at the Conservatory of Castelfranco Veneto, furthermore she also studies piano and drama. Chiara counts numerous appearances in musicals, TV shows, jingles for national commercials and television themes, and several live shows. In 2006 she won the Berkleey School prize “best 2006 artist live in Perugia”; she sang at the festival of Sanremo in 2009 and has participated at “The Voice of Italy” in 2013 (Carrà team). Chiara has worked with artists like Larry Ray (the Temptations), Ronny Jones, James Thompson, Vincent Williams, Mario Biondi, Alberto Fortis, Alan Sorrenti, Umberto Tozzi, Alexia, i Nomadi, Dr. Feelx (Chiambretti Night), Gospel groups and Rhythm & Blues.
Giovanni Forestan (sax) studied at the Conservatory of Vicenza and at the Jazz School of Bassano del Grappa. He played for television programs accompanying Mick Hucknall, Solomon Burke, Fabio Concato, Lucio Dalla and Lisa Hunt and has participated in several Italian and foreign tours in the Paolo Bellie Big Band. He iOS now part of the Italian Rhythmic Symphony Orchestra and the Venetian Philharmonic Orchestra.
Riccardo Bertuzzi is guitarist, arranger and composer. He has played in several national and international events and has collaborated with many pop artists, bands and orchestras, including Arisa, Fausto Leali, Antonella Ruggiero, Loredana Berté, Rita Pavone, Pooh, Vittorio Matteucci, Chiara Luppi, Alessandro Lanzoni and many others.
Keyboardist and pianist Nicola Lombardi, has a degree in jazz and contemporary experimental music at the Conservatory of Bologna. Since 2002 he teaches music and in 2009 he started a successful collaboration with drummer Gianni Caltrain and Movida Band, with which he accompanies artists from the national and international scene, including Tullio De Piscopo, Tony Esposito, Cornflower, Demo Morselli, Ivana Spagna and many others attending several major events such as the “Concerto Grande” with Gino Paoli and Alex Britti in Treviso or “Il Gran Concerto di Natale in Vaticano”.
Pasquale Cosco (bass) graduated at CPM in Milan and Siena Jazz, he studied at the Conservatory of Padua and Mantua and is specialized in experimental jazz in Vicenza. Italian multi-instrumentalist and session musician of proven experience and professionalism, he has partnered with Rhythmic Symphony Orchestra, Richie Gajate Garcia, Vittorio Matteucci, Daniele di Gregorio, Federico Mondelci, Lucio Dalla, Tony Esposito, Spagna, Riccardo Fogli, Fiordaliso, La Crus, Morrocoy Band, Mezcla Latina, Summertime Choir, Ruggero Robin, Chiara Luppi, Batuque Branko, Nina & Ves, Rondò Veneziano and many others.
After graduating in instruments and percussion, Eric Cisbani (drummer and percussionist) studied at the New England Conservagtory in the US and continued his education at various courses and clinics. In 1991 he won the first national competition for drummers as best Italian drummer of the category under 18. Today he performs in festivals around the world and collaborates in studio and in live with many artists, including Ornella Vanoni, Ron, Paola & Chiara, Giovanni Allevi trio and many others.
