Fabio Treves & Alex “Kid” Gariazzo
Alex “Kid” Gariazzo > guitar & voice
With their acoustic duo concerts, Fabio Treves & Alex “Kid” Gariazzo retrace the origins and history of the Blues: they present the earliest forms of rural blues, the electric “Chicago blues” of the fifties and the more recent personal compositions, taken from the Treves Blues Band record production.
Fabio Treves, also known as the “Lambrate Puma, spokesman for the blues and inventor of the mass-blues”, is considered the father of the Italian Blues. He is the author of two Blues Guides and his first record (1975), entitled ” Treves Blues Band “, is absolutely the first disc of Italian Blues discography. Fabio Treves’ harmonica, who has traveled the whole world, and his mustache are now an unmistakable trademark in the panorama of blues music.
In 1974 he founded the Treves Blues Band with the intent to disseminate the values of Blues, its history and its great interpreters and the following year, he was present at the first transmission of blues in Milan.
Summer festivals, blues festivals, clubs, schools, universities, radio, television: many and different from each other are the places that have hosted Treves. We recall among others, Memphis Tennessee festival, the one in Leningrad, Frankfurt, Trasimeno, Pistoia, Torrita, Blues Hydro, Narcao, Capo d’Orlando, Rovigo, Samedan, Umag, Rapperswille. Throughout his career he has worked with various legends of blues music: Chuck Leavell, Mike Bloomfield, Roy Rogers, Dave Kelly, Willy DeVille, John Popper, Warren Haynes and many others, and he is the only Italian artist to have performed on stage with the great Frank Zappa. Furthermore, he has played with many Italian artists: Branduardi, Elio e le Storie Tese, Finardi, Bertoli, Graziani, Ferradini, Cocciante…
In 2011, with his project “Blues in Theatre”, Treves has made a step forward towards the popularisation of blues music and lead almost 4000 people in Italian opera houses. In 2014, the TBB celebrated their 40th birthday with a theater tour of great success which ended at the Auditorium of Milan, with over 1000 spectators and the participation of musicians such as Eugenio Finardi, Stef Burns, the musicians of Elio e le Storie Tese and Paola Folli. On December 7th 2014 Fabio Treves was awarded the “Golden Ambrogino” important award of the City of Milan; furthermore, his picture appeared in the edition of February 2015 of the magazine “Rolling Stones”, entitled “The 100 faces of Italian music”.
In 2015, the TBB has been supporter to Deep Purple, and in 2016 the band is at the opening-act to the Bruce Springsteen concert at the Circus Maximus in Rome on July 16th.
Alex “Kid” Gariazzo, singer and talented guitarist of Treves Blues Band, with which has assets of 6 CDs and hundreds of concerts in Italy and abroad, as well as several radio and television appearances, accompanies him in the acoustic duo. To define him a guitarist is definitely an understatement since he also plays the mandolin, banjo, ukulele, electric, acoustic guitars, resonator, dobro, lap steel, bass and sitar.
As a composer, Alex Kid Gariazzo works on film soundtracks, jingles, music beds, sound designs to art installations, for the web and for theater shows. Furthermore he is a fine predictor and and acoustic and electric guitar teacher. He holds seminars on Blues and the relationship between this genre and popular music and is co-author of the book “The 100 ideal discs to understand the blues” (Ed. Riuniti, 2001).
