Music Competition Notification.
Jazz by the Pool Competition. II Edition
CLAUSE 1 - NOTIFICATION
The Terme Preistoriche srl company, promoter of Jazz by the Pool Festival, in cooperation with Dolce Vita Association (subsequently named promoters) with the patronage of:

publishes for year 2013 the 2nd edition of the international music contest named Jazz by the Pool Competition. II Edition.
The contest aims to discover new national and international talents - groups or soloists - in the field of jazz and similar sorts of music to publicly present and promote.
CLAUSE 2 - THE CONTEST
Bands, musicians and vocalists whose music style is alike to jazz, acid-jazz, contemporary classic, brazilian, latin jazz (afro-cuban, latin jazz ecc..), pop-folk, funk, blues music may participate to the Jazz by the Pool Competition. Other styles will be however judged in case pieces with influences not listed will be received.
The competition is addressed to soloists, groups, composers and singers which will not have reached their 30th year of birth before subscription and that are not under the 16th year of birth. Musicians who have already had professional recordings produced by any recording label and professional recordings in distribution may not participate and will be excluded by the competition.
Candidates will be selected according to the following categories: bands, composers and soloists (voice or instrument).
The compositions sent must be executed by the composer himself, on his own or with other musicians.
In case the soloist candidate may not exhibit with his or her own supporting musicians, the possibility that the organization will supply a musician will be taken in consideration. In this case the soloist will pay the supporting musician’s attendance fee. Furthermore, the soloist will have to send a written notice advising the organization that the supporting musician is absent; the notice must be sent not after the three weeks that precede the exhibition date.
CLAUSE 3 - ELIGIBILITY AND APPLICATION
No registration fee is required and participation is completely free.

Documentation needed:
- Name and surname; place and birth date; address; residence; telephone number and e-mail of the group delegate;
- n.2 musical tracks, registered on CD (audio and mps format is accepted);
- artistic CV and n.2 HD pictures (publicity purpose);
- Category chosen for application;
- Technical form and disposition on stage;
- privacy form, filled in by the musician or by the group delegate and the release in case audio/video shots and records will be taken during the exhibition (the form may be downloaded on the website www.jazzbythepool.it);
- Participants under 18 must enclose parents authorization, or the authorization signed by the legal tutor, with a copy of a valid ID.
The organization is not responsible for any postal error occurring before, after or during the competition. Copyright safeguarded, sent materials will not be given back. Compositions may not include any commercial advertisement. Organization is not responsible about contents included in the material sent by applicants.
CLAUSE 4 - SELECTION OF SEMIFINALISTS
The Jury (clause 6 of the present notification) will select, on the basis of tracks sent and listened to, with an unquestionable evaluation, 6 candidates who will exhibit during the "Jazz by the Pool” festival. The 6 candidates will have food and lodging paid for the exhibition date.
The selection results will be published on the website www.jazzbythepool.it before June the 5th and promptly communicated to the candidates. The candidates must be available for the exhibition during one of the following evenings: June 28th, July 5th, 12th and 19th and August 23rd and 30th 2013.
CLAUSE 5 - DEVELOPMENT OF THE COMPETITION
The selected artists will be inserted in the playbill, opening six evenings of the festival. The exhibition, lasting 30 minutes, will be promoted through all channels the festival normally recurs to.
The festival dates are the following: June 28th, July 5th, 12th and 19th, August 23rd and 30th and September 6th. On september 6th the evening will be dedicated to the award ceremony.
The evenings, recorded, will be listened to again later and the jury, with an unquestionable evaluation, will define the winners. The results will be communicated before and not after September 1st 2013.
The evaluation criterions are as follows:
- technical skills
- repertoire
- scenic and artistic maturity
Changes in the candidate’s date may be considered in case of serious and demonstrable necessities.
CLAUSE 5 - PRIZES
BAND CATEGORY. Hotel Terme Preistoriche Prize
The winner of the second edition of the "Jazz by the Pool Competition” will perform as main artist during the 2014 edition of the festival "Jazz by the Pool”.
The winner will have the possibility to exhibit in other festivals and clubs, during a tour with dates that will be communicated further on.
(The participation to the festival as first prize is meant including the cachet, Hotel Terme Preistoriche will supply food and lodging on the exhibition evening).
The Jazz by the Pool Association furthermore, will promote the winner with an article to him/her dedicated that will be sent to the major webzines treating the subject and that will be published in the website www.jazzbythepool.it with the pictures of the evening.
The award ceremony will take place on September 6th.
COMPOSERS/SOLOISTS CATEGORY
2 WINNERS
Jazz by the Pool Prize
Composition and arrangement workshop "Chieti in Jazz”, organized by SIDMA during dates that will be communicated further on.
Two-week-long workshop at the "Conservatorium van Amsterdam" during dates that will be communicated further on.
Candidates may not compete for more than one category.
The jury will decide, with an unquestionable evaluation, which of the prizes for the soloist and composer prize give to which candidate.
CLAUSE 6 - THE JURY
Prizes will be awarded by a Jury whose members are well known personalities of the sector, with the following role:
n.1 Organizer "Jazz by the pool” Festival and Terme Preistoriche company representant
n. 1 Jazz Musician and organizer/artistic director of the Jazz by the Pool Association
n.1 Blues Musician
n.1 Jazz coordinator of the department of the Conservatory of Amsterdam
n.2 Music journalist/reviewer
n.1 Radio conducer/discographic producer
n.1 Jazz musician and teacher of the Jazz department of the Conservatory of Castelfranco
Identities of the Jury will be communicated when the names of the first selection will be published, on June 5th 2013.
CALUSE 8 - BAD WEATHER
In case of bad weather times and places of the event may be varied and decided by the organization.
CLAUSE 9 - PROMOTION AND COMMUNICATION
The organization has the right to plan, free from any constrictions, with "Jazz by The Pool Competition" one or more promotional and / or advertising initiatives, including a possible publication on an official SIAE CD of a compilation with songs of the finalists, prior consent of the group through a copyright release. The organization also reserves the right to broadcast the final evening locally- and/or nationally-wide. Nominees waive to request any photographic, phonographic, TV and radio right. The performance is to be considered free from any cachet.
CLAUSE 10 - PENALTIES
The organization reserves the right to exclude, at any time, from "Jazz By The Pool Competition 2013" competitors that do not fulfill the obligations of this Regulation or create disruption during the event.
CLaUSE 11 - SIAE
The organization is committed to complying with all regulations issued by SIAE in music competitions
CLAUSE 12 - TRAVEL FEES
Travel expenses are to complete charge of the participants.
Participants may agree with the organization particular requests and needs by sending a written request to the following address: eventi@temepreistoriche.it
The only expenses the organization will provide for regard food and lodging in twin or triple rooms for the night of the performance.
The organization will not offer food and lodging to others (managers, partners etc.) in any case and with no exception.
Upon arrival in Montegrotto each participant must register at the Hotel Terme Preistoriche according to the time decided with the organization and prepare for soundcheck and for the performance.
Further details will be communicated to the selected artist after June 10th 2013.
Sound-check
The participants will have a professional service during the soundcheck and the performance along with backline of drums kit, acoustic piano and bass amplifier.
Candidates arriving late at soundcheck will be excluded from the competition.
Please check constantly the website www.jazzbythepool.it and in order to be always well informed about schedule and dates.
CLAUSE 13
Jury’s decisions are final and unappellable. Each winner must collect the prize personally. Every winner will have to collect the prize personally unless a it has a reasonable justification (foreigner, illness, far distances etc.).
CLAUSE 14
The organization reserves the right to make changes to these regulations in case of necessity, without changing the main contents.
Alterations and additions may be adopted by the organization to protect and preserve the artistic content of the competition.
CLAUSE 15
Participants, applying to the competition, exonerate the organization from any responsibility towards third parties that may feel damaged by the exhibition or by false declarations regarding the music paternity. Furthermore, the organization accepts no liability for damages, accidents, loss or otherwise arise before, during and after the event for events beyond the control of the organizers themselves.
